DESTINATION ACTIVITIES

• + Colonial Quito

  Colonial Quito is a world heritage site and one of the grandest and oldest colonial cities in Latin America. Amongst the many places to see and visit are the Independence Square, from where it is possible to see and photograph the Presidential Palace, "Palacio de Carondelet", the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and the City Hall. There are also many beautiful churches, such as the “Compañia de Jesus”, the most impressive church in Ecuador. The San Francisco Square, a cobblestone square one block in size, surrounded by white washed, red roofed buildings is one of the biggest attractions. The Ronda street is a great place to visit in the evening.

• + Otavalo

  The Otavalo is located in Imbabura province and is known for the excellent craftsmen. Each village in the area produces different types of things, such as wall hangings, shawls, wool jumpers and cardigans, wood carvings, leather goods, etc.

• + Mindo

  Mindo is located in the western cloud forest of Ecuador, near Quito.  It is known for its high biodervisty of flora and fauna, especially birds. The area is protected  and specially interesting because of its closeness to the Choco Region.

   

• + Cuyabeno Faunistic Reserve

  Cuyabeno Faunistic Reserve is an elaborate system of wild lagoons, river and flooded forest found in North-Eastern Ecuador. It is over 602.000 hectares of primary rainforest and boasts an incredible variety of neotropical wildlife such as river dolphins, tapirs, capybaras, caiman, anacondas, ocelots, monkeys and the infamous piranha. The bird life is particularly impressive. It also has a strong cultural impact as the Siona, Secoya and Cofan people, indigenous inhabitants of the Amazon basin for thousands of years, inhabit the area.

• + Cotopaxi National Park

  The Cotopaxi National Park is an ecological sanctuary of 36,000 hectares (88,920 acres) surrounding the highest active volcano in the world (5,987 meters / 19,700 feet), especially attractive for nature lovers, with the treeless vegetation of the Andean moorlands or páramo.  There are herds of llamas, wild horses, and perhaps deer, rabbits, frogs and lizards.  Bird life includes the Andean gull, ducks, and several species of hummingbirds and with some luck, the condor. 

• + Baños

  Baños is located in a valley of waterfalls and hot winds in the province of Tungurahua. It has become an interesting destination for international travelers seeking a temperate climate all year round. It has a small-town atmosphere including the amazing site of active Tungurahua Volcano.

• + Papallacta Thermal Springs

  Papallacta Thermal Springs is a hotel with a beautiful setting located on the Eastern Andes at 11000 feet of altitude.   The main attraction are the thermal springs where you can enjoy sitting and relaxing in the hot pools or enjoy nature while walking around the cloud forest with a magnificent view of Antisana Volcano. In this part of the country the biodiversity is very high due to its closeness to the Amazon Basin.

• + Cuenca

  Cuenca is inarguably the centre of culture and art of Ecuador.
  Its charming historical centre, the churches, small cobbled streets and colonial houses with noble facades, prim balustrades, wrought iron balconies and red tiled roofs, are why it was declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1999.
  The impressive churches in the old centre date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. This is the city of churches with 52 churches, one for every Sunday of the year!
