Peru

Perhaps you are being lured to the cradle of Latin American history and culture, Peru is a country of startling contrasts. Deserts, forests and snow capped mountains await you. Magical and mysterious places, the Nazca lines, Lake Titicaca, Machu Pichu and the Inca Trail are amongst the many places you can visit.

Peru a country of culture and history. Here we can arrange trekking trips in the Coordillera Blanca or White wash, the famous Inca trail or alternative routes such as the Salcantay trek. We also offer Peru inside and out, from beautiful beaches, to the Colca Valley, the Nazca Lines, Titicaca Lake and its islands, the Tambopata Reserve, Manu National Park, or the headwaters of the Amazon.

Inca Ruins
Peru is the country in Latin America with the most, and best preserved ruins. The Incan heritage is evident in Cusco, the Urubamba Valley and Machu Picchu to name just a few.

Coricancha:
Coricancha is the temple of the Sun located in the heart of the City inside the Dominican Convent, which was actually constructed around the main temples of the Inca culture. Fantastic Cusqueno art can also be observed there.

Sacsayhuaman
Sacsayhuaman must have been Cusco's main fortification. It sits on a hill with an excellent view of the city of Cusco down below.

Pisac
Pisac is a spectacular set of terraces on a very steep hill. This site had sacred and strategic importance. Above the terraces there are burial sites and temples with very fine carved stones. Along the paths that lead to the temples there are doorways that could have been closed if necessary. From the Inti-huatana there is a view point of the small town of Pisac, where on Tuesdays you can visit the handy craft market in the town’s main square.

Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu was probably a sacred place where only the Inca king and his chosen people could go. Others believe that Machu Picchu was an Agricultural University for the Incas. They believe it was a place to learn about the stars, the use of land, the agricultural seasons and the planting of different crops at different times of year. Its location in the tropical cloud forest and the influence of the cold winds from the Vilcabamba andn Vilcanota mountain chains allowed the Incas to experiment with planting of different type of crops based on the Solstice or the Equinox.

Maras
Maras are mines where salt is collected in terraces, very much like the agricultural terraces of the Incas.

Ollantaytambo Ollantaytambo comprises the actual village and the ruins on the hilltop. Visiting the village is like going back in time, as the town remains exactly the way it was during Inca times. In fact the people that live there are using the same houses that were left behind by the Incas. Their water channels, the walls and the little houses make the town of Ollantaytambo a magical place.

The ruins on the hilltop have some of the finest Inca masonry. They were never finished, but there are signs of huge constructions. In some of the carved rocks at the top, it is possible to observe some of the Inca techniques of preparing stones for temples and walls.
