DAY 1

BOGOTÁ FREE TIME

Upon arrival to Bogotá airport a representative will be waiting for you to offer you the transfer to Hotel Sofitel Victoria Regia.
You will have time to rest or go out for a walk in the financial district of Bogotá

DAY 2

BOGOTÁ HALF DAY TOUR WITH MONSERRATE

Half day visit to the historic center known as La Candelaria. This antiquated barrio is of great architectural and cultural heritage and is made up of old “stately homes” or large Spanish colonial buildings. Visit the Plaza de Bolivar, where a statue of the great liberator Simon Bolivar is located. In the Plaza you can visit the Cathedral and the Capilla del Sagrario and the Capitol. The visit continues with the Museo Botero, a colonial house filled with works of art done by and donated by Fernando Botero in addition to his personal collection; pieces by Picasso, Renoir, Matisse, Monet and Giacometti. Next is the Museo del Oro which has a permanent exhibition of some 32,000 pieces of gold, 20,000 stones, ceramics and textiles all precious to the various Colombian cultures. End the visit in the Santuario de Monserrate, a symbol of Bogotá. Ride the cable car or funicular up to it, at 500 mts above Bogotá.

DAY 3

GUATAVITA AND ZIPAQUIRA

Depart from Bogotá and head north passing the towns of Tocancipá and Gachancipá. Visit Guatavita town; striking with its white painted houses. Sunday is market day and so there is much more activity in town.
After lunch, depart towards Zipaquirá and the impressive Salt Cathedral. The excursion will begin by visiting the cathedral in a tunnel that passes the fourteen Stations of the Cross and continues on to the dome. Later, reach the enormous cross carved into the saline rock and finally the three naves of the Cathedral that represent the birth, life and death of Christ. Next we visit the mine where there is an auditorium that can seat up to two hundred people, host film screenings and events such as fashion shows. The trip ends at a mirror of water where it is possible to experience amazing visual effects of water on carved saline rock.
Continue to Villa de Leyva in the afternoon. Upon arrival to Villa de Leyva check in at the hotel: Posada de San Antonio, located in front of Plaza Antonio Nariño.

DAY 4

VILLA DE LEYVA

Enjoy this colonial jewel visiting its cultural and ecological attractions such as the Colonial Art Museum, the Monastery and Convent del Carmen and the Museum of Maestro Acuña. Then visit The Fossil Museum, located 5,5 km away from Villa de Leyva. Nearby is the Desert Garden of Fibas, an ecological park specializing in desert flora, with attractions like the magic garden, a Sun Shower and spectacular views. It is possible to bathe in the waterfalls and at nighttime stargaze while sitting in the main square drinking “canelazo”, a typical drink from the area.
Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 5

CONVENTO DE SANTO ECCE HOMO AND DRIVE TO BARICHARA

After breakfast, visit to the Convento del Santo Ecce Homo and then continue to Barichara to the selected hotel, La Nube Posada: an antique, restored house which keeps the local architecture from the region.

DAY 6

CAMINO REAL AND RAFTING

After an early breakfast, trekking through Camino Real Guane from Barichara to Guane town.
At the confirmed time arrive to the dock on the riverbanks of the River Fonce located 30 minutes from San Gil or Barichara.  Receive a technical debriefing and then start rafting. The trip takes place in an inflatable boat down a freshwater river in that the water takes on a greyish hue. The average descent is 7 % with no major changes. Over the course of 1.30 hours and a distance of 9km the experience will cover strong rapids (Grade III) in the first section, gentle waters in the second and end with Grade II rapids before arriving in the San Gil Country Club opposite the Parque Gallineral.

DAY 7

ARRIVAL TO POPAYAN

Early in the morning you will have a transfer from Barichara to Bucaramanga Airport.
Fly to Bogota for connection to Popayan and transfer to Hotel La Plazuela.

DAY 8

POPAYAN

Half day visit to the historic center of town founded in 1537, concentrating on Parque Caldas. Around the Parque Caldas are the main religious and government edifices, as well as the city’s original buildings such as the Torre del Reloj, considered one of the symbols of the city. Continue towards the Puente del Humilladero, built in 1873 to facilitate access from the city center to El Callejón (currently barrio Bolívar). Visit the Iglesia de Santo Domingo, a baroque style church designed by the Spanish architect Antonio García. Then, visit the Museo de Arte Religioso, which houses an interesting collection of religious art, and the Casa Museo Mosquera, the Settecento style house that belonged to General Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera.

DAY 9

SAN AUGUSTIN

Transfer Popayan / San Agustin Only Driver
Hacienda Anacaona is a two storey colonial coffee plantation house, with an eclectic decoration of antiques, old everyday objects and bamboo roofs and stairs. Surrounded by lush flowered gardens and with a wonderful view from its balconies, it is pleasantly located three km outside town on the way to San Agustín.

Overnight: Hacienda Anacanoa.

DAY 10

SAN AGUSTIN ARCHEOLOGICAL PARK AND ARRIVAL TO SANTA MARTA

Morning visit to San Agustín Archaeological Park, World Heritage Site declared by the UNESCO in 1995. See these enormous stone statues up close with your own eyes; how the each raised plateau is man-made and has been created specifically for the stone monuments, making where you are trading, holy and sacred ground. You will walk onto the ceremonial Fuente de Lavapatas before heading up the hill to the Lavapatas terrace from which you can enjoy a remarkable view over the surrounding countryside. Also visit the small Archaeology museum.
Transfer from San Agustin/ Pitalito
Flight from Pitalito back to Bogota for connection to Santa Marta.
Upon arrival to Santa Marta TRANSFER to the Hotel.
Hotel Casa Isabel is a small and cozy place with the Caribbean Character.

DAY 11

FULL DAY TAYRONA NATIONAL PARK – NEGUANJE BEACH

Leaving in the morning from Santa Marta or Taganga to the northeast on the way to Riohacha, to Tayrona National Park.
After 40 minutes’ drive, get to the first entry point of the Tayrona National Park called Palangana. Continue along a winding road through the scenic tropical forest before opening out onto what is known as the Sea of the Seven Waves, a natural viewpoint from which one can enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Descent to the Playa de Neguanje into the Bay of Gayraca and hop onto a local boat where the fishermen will then sail around the cove to Playa Cristal. Return by boat to Gayraca Bay and back to Santa Marta or Taganga the same way.

DAY 12

FLY TO CARTAGENA AND PM CITY TOUR

Transfer to Cartagena
Upon arrival to the Cartagena airport a representative will be waiting for you to offer you the transfer to Ananda Hotel Boutique
After your transfer and drop of luggage start with a panoramic view of the city from the Monasterio and Iglesia de La Popa, formerly known as the “Popa del Galeon” and famous for resembling the stern of a galleon. Then you will continue to the San Felipe fortress. It was built on San Lázaro hill to defend the city from pirate attacks. Walk around the fortress and the tunnels and learn how the castle was constructed. Then, go to the Ciudad Vieja (old city) to visit the Convert and Church of the San Pedro Claver compound. Lastly, head to the handicrafts zone of the Bovedas.
